Jade Bonsai Tree Pictures

Sometimes called miniature jade bonsai because of its small leaves and similarity to Crassula, Portulacaria afra is the best of succulents to be adapted to the art of bonsai. Although easy to grow, this plant takes some work to keep it looking like a small tree.

Before you add your photos and story, have you seen the two pages about Portulacaria afra on this site? One is the commonly used Portulacaria, with many of Jim Smith's photos.

The other is about Dave Bogan’s unique cork bark jade bonsai tree. If you haven't seen theses pages, take a minute now.

Many people do not consider this plant to be "real bonsai", because it is not a woody plant.

I think once they've seen a well styled jade, they will change their minds. More and more tropical hobbyists are adding this subject to their collections.

Because they are so adaptable, many different styles are possible. Do you have one (or more of these) special tropicals?

Ready to Share Your Photo(s)?

If not, click on the links at the bottom of this page to see contributor's photos and stories. Leave your comments and rate them!

If you are ready to share, this is the place to tell us about your favorite jade. Be sure to give the size (sometimes it's hard to tell in photos). The one shown above is just under 7".

Tell about the container. Let us know how long you've had your tree and where you got it. Do you have a future plan for the tree? We would like to know that too.

Anything else you'd like to share will be welcome. And don't forget to give your first name(at least) and where you live.
