Fukien Tea - My Favorite

by Philip Krieg
(Fort Myers, Fl, USA)

I bought this imported tree from Erik Wigert's nursery in 2006, my first investment in a large tree. It is about 32" tall and wide.

My goal was to develop the "quintessential" Bonsai and I think this tree shows grace, balance and is at peace with its world.

It was selected for the 2nd National Exhibition in 2010 in Buffalo, NY.

At the time, I had no display table, so I commissioned Sean Smith to create one and together, they are very presentable.

By the way, the Exhibition is extraordinary and I strongly recommend that all enthusiasts attend at least one.

This species is easily grown here in Fort Myers, FL and remains one of my favorites.

Fukien Tea
by: Anonymous

Thank you Carl for your kind words.

Yes, Fukien Tea is a wonderful tree – perfect for Bonsai. I am still learning much about its horticulture but it seems to be a very hardy plant in Florida. where do you grow yours?

I haven’t had as much experience as you since I started in 2006 but have greatly enjoyed the journey. I only wish I had discovered it much earlier.

A beauty!
by: Carl L Rosner

Phillip:
I love Fukien Teas, since it was the first tree I ever owned, and it is still with me (since 1987), so I commend you on your styling.

This is a beautiful example of what patience can achieve!
Warmest regards,
