Foliar Feeding & More

by Rick Jeffery
(Central Florida Bonsai Club)

I've been into bonsai since 1988. I was taught to fertilize the foliage. It seemed crazy but that was what several of the Masters endorsed. (They recommended feeding the lowest third of a cascade every week, the middle third every other week and the top every 3 weeks - way too complicated for this boy.) I asked many speaker/demonstraters over the years their opinion. No one would debunk the practice. Some said they would do it but...their operation was too big. Others said they would but it took to long and they were using a time release...blah, blah.

Will Heath has a webpage debunking the practice. He also has determined that the use of Vitamin B (you know the little tiny bottle of liquid he is referring to) and Cut Paste has no beneficial affect to our trees. Interesting read, here it is...form your own opinions.
