Hello Mary
the tree is mine and even though that root bothers me too, it also tells me that if I am patient (I've had the tree for 10 years) the root will grow and be part of the base in another 10 years. What a base it will be! The tree will be a Epcot this year and I know I'll get many comments about the root.
